Fundamental research meets series development.

Persystems was founded in 2022 as a spin-off of the University of Regensburg. We combine fundamental research in physics with engineering disciplines and decades of development experience from industry and the automotive sector – and turn this into simulation software and power electronics for electric drives.

About Persystems

Simulation, control and hardware – from one team.

Persystems combines physics with engineering disciplines: fundamental research in physics meets control engineering, power electronics and software development. The team brings decades of development experience from industry and the automotive sector. Persystems grew out of this combination of fundamental research and series development.

Today this results in two products: OverDrive, the real-time simulation of electric drives based on structure-preserving integrators, and the inverter family – from the 48 V inverter INV-60V-120A to the GaN inverter INV-120V-40A – with field-oriented control. Both are developed by the same team in Regensburg: what we simulate, we verify by measurement – the same models that OverDrive computes with describe the inverters we build.

Our workshop in Regensburg – this is where inverters are assembled, motors are measured and test setups are operated.

From the lab

For us, simulation, control and hardware belong together – from the lamination stack and the winding to the test bench.

Stator lamination stack of an outrunner motor with green insulation layer on a desk
Stator lamination stack of an outrunner – insulated, ready for winding.
Stator of an outrunner motor with copper winding, the lead wires pointing upward
Stator with copper winding – the motor the inverter will later control.
Outrunner motor with visible winding on the test bench, flanged to the measuring shaft
Outrunner on the test bench – with torque transducer and inverter in closed-loop operation.

How we work

Physics that makes it into series production.

Physics instead of approximation

Our algorithms come from geometric mechanics. They preserve the structure of the physical system – and therefore deliver results that are still correct after millions of time steps.

Software and hardware from a single source

OverDrive and our inverters are developed by the same team. That shortens development cycles and avoids surprises on the test bench.

Tested on our own test bench

We measure inverters and motors on our own test bench in Regensburg – with power analyzer, torque transducer and continuous CAN logging.
